Nick Gislason directs the winemaking and viticulture at Screaming Eagle Vineyards in the Napa Valley. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, he has worked in wine across California, New Zealand, and Washington, as well as the craft brewing industry in Washington and California. His unusual path to winemaking began during an apprenticeship, at 12 years old, to learn the craft of creating traditional Japanese style ‘Hanabi’ fireworks. Today, he is the pyrotechnics director of the Lopez Community Fireworks organization, in addition to his winemaking duties, and loves working with nature to coax out beautiful and delicious things. He has managed the Screaming Eagle winemaking for the last 14 vintages.
